I made a spinnaker for my neighbor's boat. Reason being we sail mostly upwind and downwind so a spinnaker makes more sense than a screacher-also screacher kit from WR costs about $2K but we put a spin on the boat for less than $1K. Anyway, here's a video of the spin being flown for the first time.

If you get a chance, I would like to see video of the deploy and retrieve of that spin. Are you using a sock?

We're considering adding a snuffer attached to the pole like Hobie 18s or Nacras or 49ers use. But for now, we just hoist and retrieve from the center cockpit. Hoist by pulling halyard while keeping foot together, then pull guy out to end of sprit then sheet. Retrieve the opposite--reach lazy sheet (you can reach it from center cockpit), pull in foot by releasing guy, the release halyard and bring back to cockpit.
